Description

This collection of Bay Area Transportation Climate Resilience Projects are part of the Adapting to Rising Tides Subregional Project in Alameda County. These projects build a regional understanding of the vulnerability and consequences of sea level rise inundation and storm event flooding on critical transportation infrastructure. Adapting to Rising Tides (ART) is a program of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), which brings together local, regional, state and federal agencies and organizations, as well as non-profit and private associations for collaborative planning projects on sea level rise and climate change. The transportation-focused efforts of the ART program included an evaluation of transportation assets, including streets, roads, highways, light and heavy rail, bus routes, and bike/pedestrian ways, which demonstrated that ground transportation vulnerabilities could result in wide-spread consequences on local communities, the region, and beyond. The transportation-focused results of this initiative include a Subregional Project Transportation Assessment and a Climate Change and Extreme Weather Adaptation Pilot Project.
