Description

This case study documents Sonoma County's process of developing a Forest Resource Ordinance in response to the 2017 Tubbs and Glass Fires as well as the 2019 Kincade Fire. The project supports recovery efforts by prioritizing the restoration of damaged or lost forests and protecting existing forests from further degradation. Key components of the project include landscape level protections; alignment with the County's General Plan, Climate Action Plan, and Local Coastal Program; and both climate adaptation and greenhouse gas mitigation strategies.
