Risky Business Project
This report is a primer for Californians trying to understand potential economic and social risks that may arise if (1) the state maintains its current economic and demographic structure, and (2) if governments, businesses and individuals continue to respond to changes in temperature and precipitation as they have in the past. Readers can explore environmental risk impacts on the business sector and workforce in different regions of California. In particular, this report focuses on extreme heat, sea-level rise, water availability, agriculture & labor productivity, energy demands, and heat-related mortality. In addition to outlining probable impacts, this report calls out "tail-risks" (low probability, but high risk events), which may help regional entities prepare scenario-planning documents.
