Description

This project was undertaken for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment and developed technology to improve understanding of snowpack modeling and streamflow forecasting techniques. The project used networks of wireless sensors to collect comprehensive environmental data relevant to the hydropower infrastructure at the North Fork of the Feather River, but its analysis and results are relevant across industries and the state. These outputs from these networks improve runoff forecasting tools such as the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System and inform adaptation decisions by major economic stakeholders in the energy and water supply sectors.
