Description

This case study details the Shasta Regional Transportation Agency's project to develop the Resilient Shasta Extreme Climate Event Mobility and Adaptation Plan with support from the SB 1 Caltrans Adaptation Planning Grant Program. Resilient Shasta was inspired in part by the historic wildfire season of 2018, record precipitation events in 2017, and a historic five-year drought. The goals of this project were to identify and assess existing conditions in the Shasta Region; evaluate possible future conditions and their impacts on regional mobility and transportation infrastructure; and develop and evaluate strategies and actions that will help reduce the effect of extreme weather events on our regional transportation system.
