Description

This study for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment assessed the risks posed to California's State Water Project and the federal Central Valley Project by climate impacts such as warming temperatures, rising sea levels, flow seasonal pattern shift, and drought. The study used the water planning model CalSim 3.0 as a tool to conduct risk assessment for these two key water resources in the state. The authors assess risks across 20 different climate change scenarios and two different emissions scenarios and analyze their impacts and implications for water management.
