Description

This study for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment focuses on residential electricity and natural gas demand in the state. It proposes a two-step Climate Adaptive Response Estimation method to estimate climate damage functions to inform long-run adaptation in the energy sector. In step 1, the study uses data form energy bills to estimate intensive margin temperature response functions using daily variation in weather. In step 2, it explains variations in these functions across space as a function of summer climate.
