Description

This study for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment assesses grid vulnerabilities throughout Los Angeles County to potential future heat waves based on climate change projections. The study provides projections for future electricity demand increases in residential and commercial sectors, as well as for the evolving capacity of grid components during times of extreme heat and peak demand.Based on these projections, the authors provide localized estimates of how much additional delivery system capacity will be required for different areas throughout the County by the year 2060 and offer recommendations for how to achieve these increases.
