Description

This website provides access to a wealth of information about the restoration efforts for the South Bay Salt Ponds, which is the largest tidal wetland restoration project on the West Coast. The project began in 2003, under the leadership of Senator Dianne Feinstein. At the time some the South Bay Salt Ponds were acquired from Cargill Inc. Once complete the project will restore 15,100 acres of industrial salt ponds to a rich mosaic of tidal wetlands and other habitats. The website provides information about the restoration, pictures of the projects, and links to key documents associated with the plan including some final Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Reports (EIS/EIR).
