Description

The Karuk Tribe Climate Adaptation Plan was developed following the Karuk Climate Vulnerability Assessment which was completed in 2016. The Plan details climate impacts and potential adaptations for Karuk species and habitats, human health, critical infrastructure, tribal programs and tribal sovereignty and management authority. The climate planning work of the Karuk Tribe is unique for its central and detailed focus on fire, its attention to restoring human responsibilities and traditional ecological knowledge, and its parallel emphasis on collaboration, public education, and policy advocacy.
