Description

This case study documents the Town of Paradise's process of updating their Housing Element and developing accessory dwelling unit (ADU) plans in response to the 2018 Camp Fire. This project marks the first time the town explicitly incorporated wildfire resiliency into their housing planning. Key components of the project included home-hardening programs, nature-based solutions, and ADU plans that go beyond the minimum Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) design standards.
