Description

This study for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment uses a hydro-economic model called CALVIN to identify system vulnerabilities and adaptation strategies for statewide water operations in the face of increased hydrologic variability due to climate change. The model determines annual water allocations on without knowledge of future availability and efficiently evaluate ensembles of streamflow projections representing a range of possible future climates. The authors consider adaptation strategies including changes to reservoir operating policies, and conveyance and storage expansion.
