Description

This study for California's 4th Climate Change Assessment examines the need for proactive adaptation strategies in groundwater management for addressing extreme drought. The authors explore two central questions: 1) How groundwater management agencies are planning for drought, and 2) What promising new approaches are currently being used for drought response? The study first reviews research on drought and groundwater management strategies, then presents case studies of new approaches to drought response and evaluates their efficacy.
